Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a screen recording?
Click the Cameo menu bar icon or use the keyboard shortcut ⌘+Shift+R. Select your capture area (full screen, window, or region), configure audio settings, and click Record.
Why can't Cameo record my screen?
macOS requires Screen Recording permission. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording and ensure Cameo is enabled. You may need to restart Cameo after granting permission.
How do I record system audio?
Enable 'System Audio' in the audio settings before recording. Note: System audio capture requires macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or later.
Why is my export slow?
Export speed depends on your Mac's GPU. Apple Silicon Macs export fastest (up to 6x realtime). Try HEVC codec for better performance, or reduce resolution if needed.
Can I edit my recording after capturing?
Yes! Open your recording in Studio (⌘+E) to add SmartZoom effects, text overlays, canvas backgrounds, and configure Camera PiP settings.
How does SmartZoom work?
SmartZoom analyzes your mouse clicks, keyboard input, and UI interactions to automatically create zoom effects that highlight important actions in your recording.
What's the difference between H.264 and HEVC?
HEVC (H.265) produces smaller files with same quality but requires more processing power. H.264 is more compatible with older devices. Both use GPU acceleration.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can manage your subscription through the Paddle customer portal. Click 'Manage Subscription' in the app's settings or contact support for assistance.
